Turkish authorities announced on Sunday that they were suspending the search for survivors in almost all earthquake-affected areas.
Almost two weeks have passed and at least 46,000 people have been confirmed dead in Turkey and Syria.
In Hatay Province, over 1000 balloons have been tied over the race masses to honor the children who lost their lives in the disaster.
– I wanted this business to be called: “My last gift to the children.”
We still give gifts to children in Hatay to fulfill our last duty to these angels. And we do this with balloons, says the initiator Ogun Sever Okun.
– Believe me, my heart bleeds every time we tie a balloon. We have tied 1000 to 1500 balloons so far but we will hopefully continue until we reach the whole city. And to every home where children have lost their lives, he continues.
