Baldur’s Gate 3 will soon provide 4 reasons to play it again – especially if you’ve been too nice so far

Baldur’s Gate 3 actually wanted to release the new patch 7 in the closed beta, but there is a problem. Nevertheless, the patch sounds very promising.

When will patch 7 be released? The launch of Patch 7 in the closed beta was originally scheduled for July 22, but has now been postponed again. Larian is talking about a release later this week.

The reason: As the developers announced, the patch in its current state simply deactivated passive dice rolls. Therefore, they now have to find out why this is the case. As soon as this is corrected, nothing should stand in the way of a release.

Important: The patch will initially only be released in the closed beta on Steam, but you can still sign up for it. For all other players, the full patch will not be released until September.

But you can definitely look forward to it, because Larian has already introduced a number of changes that should be exciting.

What are the highlights of Patch 7 for Baldur’s Gate 3?

This is what the patch contains: Overall, the developers announce that “over 1,000 fixes and improvements” will be included in Patch 7. These include, of course, small, but also some major changes and innovations.

The highlights: The most exciting changes are the following:

  • In your first run, you were a friendly group of heroes who only did good things, and you want to live out your dark side in the next run? Then it’s best to wait for the patch, because there are new “bad endings” coming. These will be new, longer cinematics at the end of the game that you only get if you’ve made really bad decisions. So there’s something new for story fans who haven’t had enough of the bad scenes so far.
  • Good news for everyone who wants to play together locally in the next run: The split-screen gameplay is changing. The two screens are now merged when you play close to each other. This gives you a much better overview. If you move further apart, the screens will also separate. Larian also promises further improvements and “polishing” of the split-screen mode.
  • A new in-house mod manager is being introduced so that you can get a better overview of your mods and install them directly. If you want to try it out, the patch offers an easier option.
  • You’ve never tried Honor Mode before, but would like to experience what it feels like in your next run? Then adapt the rules: If you create your own game mode, you can now use Honor Mode rules for it. This means you can include the difficult fights from it in your game, for example, but you can avoid the permanent end if you fail.
  • What else is in the patch? A lot, because even the small preview that Larian has published so far includes things like:

  • New legendary actions in Honor Mode.
  • Adjustments to the user interface.
  • Lots of fixes for graphical or gameplay bugs.
  • New animations in the camp, for example for Astarion, Minsc, Karlach.
  • Adjustments to certain factions in the finale that can support you.
  • Adjustments in some companion dialogues.
  • Performance improvements.
  • The entire list of changes announced so far can be found here on Steam. The full list of patch notes will appear when the patch is released.

But that’s probably not all, because Patch 7 is not yet the final update for Baldur’s Gate 3. Accordingly, you can look forward to more features, such as things like crossplay or other improvements in the future. And if you still haven’t had enough: the developers have now started on the next project, but it will not be a new part of Baldur’s Gate.
