“Baldur’s gate 3” was the game of the year

A full 23 years after the runner-up, the Belgian game studio Larian managed to enchant the gaming world with elves, dragons and magic. “Baldur’s gate 3” was released in August and became one of the year’s big game successes – and at the gala there were a total of six prizes.

The team put their soul into this game for six years, sometimes under very difficult conditions. This was our covid game, we lost quite a few people along the way, said Larian’s boss Swen Vincke when he received the award for the game of the year – dressed in a typical game armor.

Finnish horror game challenged

Contenders for the title included the horror game “Alan Wake 2” from Finnish Remedy Entertainment, which had to settle for winning in three other categories – including best director and best story.

When more than 100 people believe in the same vision and build something from it, we can achieve miracles. We can create art and we can be greater than the sum of our parts. Our world could use more of that stuff, Remedy director and screenwriter Sam Lake said at an acceptance speech.

Swedish news

The only Swedish prize chance was Malmöstudion Massive’s upcoming “Star wars outlaws”, which was nominated in the most anticipated game category, but the prize instead went to “Final fantasy VII rebirth”.

As usual, several previews with game news were also presented.

Among other things, that Swedish Sharkmob is working on “Exoborne” – a post-apocalyptic action adventure with an open game world and a lot of shooting. It was confirmed that Swedish Josef Fare’s first game – “Brothers: A tale of two sons” will get a new version.

It is also clear that the free shooter “The finals” – the first game from Swedish Embark – is out now. And that Swedish 10 Chamber makes a brutal and dystopian coup maker game called “Den of wolves”.
