Baldur’s Gate 3 players want to smooch Lucius Malfoy

Baldur’s Gate 3 lets its players enter into romances with various NPCs. Currently, many fans are still hoping to be able to kiss the villain voiced by Lucius Malfoy. But Larian has clear words.

Which character is it about? The character that many fans want as a romance option is none other than one of the three main villains from Baldur’s Gate 3: Enver Gortash.

Gortash is one of the masterminds behind the events in the game. Together with Orin the Red and Ketheric Thorm, he forms the head of the Cult of the Absolutes. He is the chosen one of Bane, the god of darkness, tyranny, hatred and conflict.

He first appears at the end of Act 2 of Baldur’s Gate 3. However, the player only really learns more about him in Act 3 when heading towards Baldur’s Gate.

A romance with the villain? Larian says babygirl has no time for smooching

What does Larian say about this? Players have been telling Larian Studios on social media how much they want a romance with Gortash, and now they’ve addressed the topic directly in their latest community update:

[…]But will we be able to kiss Gortash, we hear you begging, we want to kiss Gortash.

Look, he’s a complicated guy who’s busy thinking about the details of death cult office politics. Babygirl ain’t got time for smooching.

Larian Studios via Steam, July 16, 2024

This probably puts an end to any hopes of a late romance with Gortash. Larian Studios has already given in to fans’ wishes before: the romance with the druid Halsin and the infamous bear sex scene only came about because players liked the character so much.

The scene that made Baldur’s Gate 3 famous was a “turning point in the history of video games,” says one of the developers

Why do players want to romance him? At first glance, Gortash doesn’t look like a character that would make fans’ hearts beat faster. Reddit user MxCrosswords wants to know in a post why people like him so much.

One of the main reasons, according to the comments below, is the voice actor: Jason Isaacs. The actor is known for his role as Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter films, among other things. He also played Captain Hook in Peter Pan (2003). Anyone who has seen The Patriot knows him as Col. William Tavington.

So the players who like Jason Isaacs partly transfer this to the character he voices.

Reddit user jayk1406 adds that the interest is not so much due to Gortash’s appearance, but rather due to his history with the origin character Dark Desire.

Others simply go by the fact that they like the aesthetic of an overworked, over-caffeinated man with eyeliner from a week ago, a dark past, and a genuine respect for their character, Dark Desire, plus his charm, intelligence, and everything he represents as one of the three main villains.

The community post that addressed the Gortash issue introduces the new features and adjustments of Patch 7 of Baldur’s Gate 3. But there is much more to it than just rejected romance requests: Baldur’s Gate 3 introduces Patch 7, brings many features that will virtually force you to return
