Players share disturbing decisions that are emotionally challenging

Which decisions are particularly cruel? KyojiroKagenuma94 argues that Dame Aylin’s betrayal of Lorroakan is arguably the cruelest decision in the game. He believes that this act is far worse than simply killing her to fulfill Shadowheart’s fate.

The player writes:

She is freed, reunited with Isobel, only to have everything ripped away from her again and put her in a cage again. To make matters worse, Lorroakan murders Isobel when she comes to Aylin’s aid, and she is forced to look at the body of the lover she has now lost again. And what is it all for? For a few coins? Damn, that’s evil.

Another player named GimilionTheHunter writes of a dark decision that also includes betraying and killing loyal companions:

Dark Urge can resist the urge, gain Jaheira’s trust, talk to her about her former Bhaalspawn companion, help her save Minsc, then sacrifice her to Bhaal for Sarevok, and if you talk to Minsc afterwards [Mit Toten sprechen] When you talk, he just screams for Boo.

The pain of Minsc, who only cries out for his hamster Boo after this betrayal, gives this decision a particularly disturbing note.

Spengy adds an even more cruel touch by having the player share another decision regarding Jaheira, Minsc and Yenna. In a Dark Urge run, the player also gained Jaheira’s trust and had Orin kill Yenna at Bhaal Shrine. When Jaheira and Minsc then turned against the player, the player forced him to kill Jaheira with the help of Minsc’s larva.

Spengy writes:

This happened in my evil run and I actually had to stop playing for a short period of time.

I can handle Yenna getting stabbed in the eyes, but all that effort to reunite Jaheira and Minsc only for him to kill Jaheira and then realize what he’s done… such crap.

Commenter007 sums it up quite well: I felt sick just reading it.
