Official mod support for Baldur’s Gate 3 is coming in September. With the 7th patch, ample opportunities will be offered to mod makers.
Popular RPG game by Larian Studios Baldur’s Gate 3 official mod support, will finally be available to players and content creators with the arrival of patch 7 in September. Larian outlined when mod support will arrive, what it will offer, and expectations for the future of the game.
Baldur’s Gate 3 Mod Support Coming in September
Larian Studios announced that patch 7, which will bring official mod support for Baldur’s Gate 3, will arrive in September. This patch will tenfold expand the content players and modders can add to the game. Players will be able to make many creative modifications, from customizing characters to adding nuclear weapons to the Forgotten Realms.
With the arrival of patch 7, the closed alpha for modding tools will begin on Monday, June 3, and invitations will be sent out to more modders over time. In July, a closed beta process will begin where all players, as well as Baldur’s Gate 3 mod authors, can register and participate in tests on PC.
“Our new modding pipeline aims to provide a convenient way for both players and creators to access and manage mods across all platforms on which Baldur’s Gate 3 is released, with improved compatibility, tools, and documentation,” states Larian.
Seamless Experience with Mod.io
Official mod support will be provided through the Mod.io platform, thus minimizing incompatibility and stability problems. Mod.io will ensure that BG3 mods run smoothly on all platforms, not just on PC, by providing the necessary infrastructure to upload, host, manage and control content.
Players will be able to make various modifications such as armor, weapons, classes, spells and special dice skins with official modding tools and easily share these contents. “We will never discourage modding outside of our own official pipeline, but implementing our own will increase compatibility and give us the opportunity to make sure they will work wherever you play Baldur’s Gate 3,” Larian adds.
