Dark Desire – “Possibly the most heroic run”
The Dark Desire is not the right choice for everyone. The character loves everything that has to do with blood and violence. He literally feeds on killing.
But Baldur’s Gate 3 lead writer Adam Smith revealed in an interview with PC Gamer that he plays Dark Desire in a different way. For him, the playthrough with this character is possibly the most heroic of all.
My dark desire resists the dark impulses and deeply regrets all the terrible deeds that have happened. […] For me – and I’ll be spoiler-free as much as possible – the Dark Urge playthrough experience might be the most heroic variant. Confronting your inner demons, resisting them, and ending up surviving alongside your faithful companions creates the most epic version of the game in my opinion.

Adam Smith has a deep affection for the RPG and feels a particular fascination with his “Dark Urge Monk.” Instead of playing a deranged unrepentant killer, he plays a tormented hero with remorse. He plays him as a character with a good heart.
It doesn’t matter whether you accept the dark nature of “Dark Desires” or fight against it. The character represents one of the most fascinating game options. So it doesn’t necessarily mean that you experience a completely evil gameplay with a Dark Desire.
