An own homebrew campaign in Baldur’s Gate 3: A team of modders, whose number could pass for their own indie studio, are developing further content for the game. New maps, characters and storylines are in the works and the latest updates have the community excited.
What is the team working on? A group of modders known on YouTube and Reddit as “Lotrich” banded together to create their own content for Baldur’s Gate 3. But this time it’s not about technical optimizations or fancy hairstyles. Instead, the team would like to offer their own campaign through their mod.
You work on new items, buildings and locations, but also on characters, dialogue and stories to fill the world. Your goal is therefore to create a campaign with self-made content, which is often known as “homebrew” in Dungeons & Dragons and other TTRPGs.
The team shares regular updates on Reddit and YouTube, which generate enthusiasm among the community.
A “DLC” by fans for fans
What is the current progress? The latest update from December 9, 2025 shows the progress of a location called “Waukeen’s Promenade” on Reddit and YouTube. Overgrown walls and houses, gardens and paths with garlands and a large square with tents and other architecture in the background – all in the authentic style of Baldur’s Gate 3.
The reactions so far have been very positive:
How can the mod be played? Larian already announced on Steam that some script-intensive mods cannot be supported by the official site, but modding from outside is still an option. This also includes this team’s homebrew mod.
According to his own statement, the mod is too extensive and “a miracle would have to happen” to integrate it into the official game.
That’s why the mod will initially only be playable via Nexus. Unfortunately, consoles are also excluded for this reason.
The modders show transparency during development
What are the further plans? Curious Baldur’s Gate fans ask various questions about the content and what exactly they can expect from the mod. The team is very transparent on the channels and reveals more detailed information:
The question was also raised as to whether it would be possible to incorporate more voice lines from the original characters into the mod, as the actors would probably be keen to be involved in such a large project.
Lotrich’s answer is: “We will do our best :)”
