The undisputed game of the year 2023 celebrated its first birthday. To celebrate, the developers of Baldur’s Gate 3 have served up a veritable feast of statistics.
August 3, 2024 marked the first anniversary of the full release of Baldur’s Gate 3, and Larian’s role-playing game still delights tens of thousands of players – including none other than MeinMMO editor-in-chief Leya Jakowski.
The title thrives on its high replay value and the almost unlimited possibilities that players have. But just because Larian hardly sets any limits doesn’t mean that they won’t judge you for your decisions.
Here’s a little refresher on the success of Baldur’s Gate 3:
Developers say: You cannot be trusted
What did Larian unpack? To mark the one-year anniversary, Baldur’s Gate 3’s official X-Account released a series of statistics that provide some insight – perhaps too much.
A total of 75 million kisses with companions took place. First and second place are, not surprisingly, the fan favorites Shadowheart with 27 million kisses and Astarion with 15 million – although the latter is not in the top 3 romances in either Act 1 or Act 3. This shows once again that Astarion has a relatively small but all the more dedicated fan base.
Nearly 170,000 characters were also willing to commit mass murder to get closer to a beautiful drow.
The developers also revealed that more than 650,000 players have become intimate with the druid Halsin: 70% chose his human form, while almost a third chose the bear. Well, this decision is perhaps not too surprising when you consider that this very love scene contributed to the huge success of Baldur’s Gate 3.
We’ll just leave it at that for now that more than twice as many players – 37% of 1.1 million – decided to have a tryst with a mind flayer in all his tentacled glory. But hey, there was a reward for that, after all.
You can view the statistics here, but be careful: there might be one or two spoilers.
Do you recognize yourself in the statistics? Let us know in the comments what misdeeds Larian has caught you doing.
Incidentally, this is not the first time that Larian has published such statistics about the sometimes questionable decisions of players. The first data was already available a year ago, shortly after the release. At that time it became clear that the most popular Origin character is often the reason why you die
