It has been confirmed that Baldur’s Gate 3 will include an important feature in the delayed Xbox version.
This CRPG will enable cross-save between PC as well as PlayStation 5. Just a week ago, it wasn’t clear that Baldur’s Gate 3 would come to Xbox platforms. Larian has since clarified the situation and stated that Baldur’s Gate 3’s Xbox Series X/S support will arrive by the end of 2023. Despite being a belated release, Larian Studios will ensure that Baldur’s Gate 3 players can switch to Xbox with relative ease.
Swen Vincke made a new announcement
Larian CEO Swen Vincke announced yesterday that Baldur’s Gate 3 is scheduled for an Xbox Series X/S release in 2023. He confirmed that the Xbox version of the game has been in development for a long time. But he also pointed out that there is a fundamental issue preventing it from launching at the same time as the PS5 version. Larian stated that they had found a solution with the Xbox team, and as a result, the Xbox Series S version was released without the split-screen collaboration.
Alongside Baldur’s Gate 3 launching on Xbox Series X/S in 2023, Larian also confirmed that it will provide cross-save support between PC and Xbox. This will allow fans to start playing Baldur’s Gate 3 on PC and carry over their records when the game comes to Xbox. It has also been confirmed that cross-save will also be supported between PlayStation 5 and Xbox.
This is an important feature update, at least for the Xbox community. Many Xbox players prefer to play games on a console. This feature allows these console players to launch Baldur’s Gate 3 on PS5 and migrate their saves to the Xbox Series X/S once the game is available.
Changing platforms will be pretty easy
Cross-save may not matter to most game players. Most people who play Baldur’s Gate 3 will start and continue on their preferred platform. But there are still those who like to switch platforms on a daily basis, and cross-save can be invaluable to them. The gradual release of Baldur’s Gate 3 makes cross-recording very important.
Baldur’s Gate 3’s support for cross-save is a result of the game’s implementation of the Larian account system. Recordings can be uploaded to the cloud and then accessed online on all platforms. This system was disabled after the PC release of Baldur’s Gate 3.
