Baldur’s Gate 3: Githyanki Nativity – How to find it and what you can do

You can face some challenges in the Githyanki Manger in Baldur’s Gate 3. MeinMMO tells you how to get to the crèche and what awaits you there.

Find the Githyanki Nativity is a quest in Baldur’s Gate 3 that you can obtain in the first act. It represents a possible sub-quest for your main goal of finding a cure.

When you free Lae’zel, she tells you that she knows a cure that can help you with your larva problem. Once freed, she tells you that the cure is in the Githyanki crib. Of course, you can also travel to the Githyanki crib independently from Lae’zel and it’s definitely worth it.

You can find out how to get to the crèche (independent of Lae’zel) and what you can do there in this short guide.

Where can I find the Githyanki Nativity? The Githyanki Manger is located in the mountain pass that you can access west of Waukeen’s Rest and north of Goblin Camp.

A notice: The mountain pass is a challenging area and is marked as such. You can either go there directly, or adventure in the Underdark first. So definitely take another long rest and make sure that you have ideally reached at least level 5.

Meeting Dame Esther

When you reach the mountain pass you will meet Dame Esther. This offers you the optional quest to steal a Githyanki egg. She is also a merchant who sells powerful items. Inside the Githyanki Manger you will also meet the Githyanki Quartermaster, who is also a merchant and sells some cool items. It’s worth a look.

This is how it continues: From here you continue north, where you come across the monastery ruins and can activate the Rosenmorg Monastery waypoint. In the monastery itself you can get a legendary weapon – the Blood of Lathander.

We’ve explained how you do the whole thing here: Baldur’s Gate 3: Ceremonial weapons and how you can use them to get a powerful item

Which entrance do I use? There are different entrances to the Githyanki Manger, which is the lower level of the monastery. No matter which one you choose, you have to convince the guards to let you through – unless you have Lae’zel with you, then she will take care of it for you.

What you can do in the Githyanki Manger

Search for the cure and use Zaith’isk

To start looking for the cure, walk east (X: 1284, Y: – 798) in the crib to get to the infirmary. There you meet the doctor Ghustil, who is trying to free herself from the larva using a machine.

Doctor Ghustil, experimenting with a machine to get rid of the larva.

What can the machine do? The machine cannot remove your parasite or that of a group member. However, you can sit in to get a buff to your illithid powers if you want to use them.

  • To do this you have to make difficult saving throws and each failed saving throw brings – 2 to Intelligence, Wisdom and Constitution. However, you can get rid of the debuff by consuming a parasite.
  • If you succeed on all saving throws, you gain a powerful passive for your illithid powers. Because with the passive you can use all Illithid powers as a bonus action.

    Steal a Githyanki egg

Above the infirmary is the hatchery where you can steal the Githyanki egg. The egg is protected by guards and traps.

Varsh is the manager of the hatchery.

You have the following options to get the egg:

  • Fight the guards
  • Convince the NPC Varsh to give you the egg
  • Or you can be sneaky with an invisibility potion, which is quite difficult
  • Scribble Vlaakith portrait

In the nativity scene you will also find a holy painting by Vlaakith himself, which you can paint. All you have to do is pass a Dexterity check of 16. Lae’zel won’t be happy with that, but that won’t have much of an impact.

You can doodle on the painting of the Githyanki ruler.

    Meeting the Githyanki Inquisitor

On the way to the Inquisitor, go to the captain’s quarters and speak to the commander Kith’rak Therezzyn. She has the Gith Shard, which you need to unlock the Inquisitor’s Chamber.

You have the following options to get the shard:

  • They steal
  • they kill
  • Or show her the artifact and persuade her not to attack you. She will then send you to the Inquisitor.
  • A notice: The artifact always comes back to you automatically.

What’s next? Go through the door to the north of the captain’s quarters and continue walking north to eventually go through a double iron door.

The Inquisitor will demand that you give him the artifact. You can ask the Inquisitor questions, say no, or explain to him why you don’t want to give up the artifact. If you don’t give him the artifact, the Githyanki around you will become hostile and Vlaakith will appear after the battle.

    Trust Vlaakith or the Watcher?

Vlaakith will either appear after you kill the Inquisitor or she will appear after you hand over the artifact. She will demand that you kill the guard. You can then enter the Astral Plane when Vlaakith tells you to kill your Guardian.

  • You should do as well, otherwise the Githyanki (including Lae’zel, if you have her with you) will become hostile towards you.
  • If you anger Vlaakith too much, it can result in an instant game over.

We recommend that you do not kill the Guardian because he cannot die at all and will only be disappointed in you. If you spare him instead, he will tell you more about your parasite and about Vlaakith.

  • Because Vlaakith is actually deceiving you and wants to kill you. In addition, there are no advantages if you put your trust in the ruler.
  • Kill Inquisitor

At the end you will not be able to avoid a confrontation with the Inquisitor of Vlaakith in the manger. The fight against Ch’r’ai W’wargaz is a bit tricky. This is mainly due to his ability called Mindsteal Link, which allows him to connect with any surrounding creature.

    This gives him:

  • +1 to Armor Class (AC) per creature
  • It deals an additional 1d4 psychic damage, also per creature
  • However, the linked creatures become more vulnerable to psychic damage and have a -2 to their Armor Class
  • Finally, the Githyanki Inquisitor is waiting for you.

How do you proceed now? The connection with his group strengthens him, so it is advisable to focus on the connected fighters (4 in total) first before attacking the boss. It’s best to take out the crossbowman first.

Tip: Also avoid summoning pets and familiars. Because the Inquisitor can also connect with them.
