The release of Baldur’s Gate 3 is getting closer and the team reveals new details. In the interview, the main author explains why monks of all things should be the best class in the game.
What is explained? In Baldur’s Gate 3 you can expect many options when choosing a class. But which is the best of these? From the Baldur’s Gate 3 team, lead writer Adam Smith gave an interview to GamesRadar+ (via Gamesradar.com). In it he goes into the new monk class and talks about the advantages.

Why are monks so good in Baldur’s Gate 3?
These are the arguments: Smith explains, “Monks are great because they’re so fast.” At level 6 or 7, you’re really fast and jumping around everywhere.
You can also deflect enemy projectiles with the “Deflect Missiles” ability. According to Smith, it “feels like having a lightsaber.” Even for solo players, monks should be a good choice. Because in addition to their high speed, they also distribute a lot of damage and are good at stealth.
In RPGs, the monk is not as common as the typical warrior, wizard, archer, and priest.
What is the best roleplay class? If you base the choice of the best class on roleplay alone, then the monk doesn’t win. In the eyes of Adam Smith, the Paladin class has the edge here. With this election you have sworn to uphold law and justice.
The Paladin is probably still my favorite class. There are certain things you can do that go against the oath, and if you do that, you’ll literally be visited by a guy called the Oathbreaker, that sinister knight. That’s damn awesome. It’s this whole moment just for this one class. Then comes the moment when it’s like, ‘Oh shit, I just shifted the power of cosmic balance’.
