Your own group is an important part of the feeling in Baldur’s Gate 3. One of the first companions you can meet is Shadowheart. In this guide you can find out which spells are best to take with you.
Who is Shadowheart? Shadowheart is a half-elf. At the beginning of the game you can find her on the Mind Flayer’s ship. She is the second companion you can find in the game. You can see how you free them at the beginning with our colleagues from GameStar.
Clerics can not only heal well, they can also be good tanks, support or cause a lot of damage. However, the majority see clerics as healers, which is why this build focuses on that.
As a cleric, she is useful for your party. You can see what other companions are in the game in our Companion Guide. In the following section we show you the best spells and items that you can equip with Shadowheart.
Shadowheart Build – Best spells and items in the overview
The Domain of Life is best suited to Shadowheart. Her healing and protection make her a good addition to your team. Accordingly, you are most likely to focus on wisdom when it comes to attributes. Strength and Constitution are important secondary stats.
Load at level 1
This is a good mix of healing and defensive abilities to start with, allowing Shadowheart to do well in her role as a cleric. Directing Missile and Inflicting Wounds also have ways for Shadowheart to deal damage.
Level 2 load
Command is particularly strong because it can also drop weapons from enemies. At the same time, you can make opponents flee or come closer, giving you tactical options.
Loaded to level 3
First, this spell is a bonus action, which allows you to perform an additional action. You can also cast this spell before battle.
Loaded to level 4
Bond of Protection is a good buff for your team. You bond with an ally. The target gains a bonus on saving throws and resistances. But at the same time, Shadowheart takes the same damage as the connected target. You should also keep an eye on that, in the fight it can happen that you quickly lose track and suddenly Shadowheart dies.
Loaded to level 5
Mass Healing Word gives you a good AOE healing spell and consumes a bonus action, allowing it to be stacked with other spells and actions. Glyph of Protection allows you to place a trap on the field that activates certain magical effects when an opponent steps on it.
Loadout to level 6
Guardian Spirits offers you both offensive and defensive options. You summon a spirit that halves the movement speed of nearby enemies. Enemies that step into the spirit’s area take damage.
Loaded to level 7
The enemy target is banished. That means he can’t do anything for two turns, but you can’t damage him either. This is very useful against bosses or strong opponents, because you can cast other spells or buffs for the team at the same time.
The target you cast Death Ward on cannot drop to 0 health. This is especially good against bosses or enemies that deal a lot of damage, so useful in some situations.
Loaded to level 8
This spell gives you the ability to allow the target to move over other terrain and the like.
