Baldur’s Gate 3 aims to achieve what no other RPG has been able to achieve: to run “seamless multiplayer” on the Xbox Series S console.
Baldur’s Gate 3 will be one of the biggest new game releases of the year. While PC players will be able to start playing later this week, console players may take a little longer to start their adventure on their preferred platform.
Baldur’s Gate 3 will feature seamless multiplayer
Baldur’s Gate 3 PC release date is August 3. It will be playable on September 6 for PS5. An Xbox version of Baldur’s Gate 3 is also being worked on. However, a release date has not been set yet. Unfortunately, the Xbox Series S console seems to be the reason why the Xbox version of Baldur’s Gate 3 has been delayed.
While Larian has said recently that the Xbox Series S isn’t holding back console gaming, he acknowledged Baldur’s Gate 3’s “major technical hurdle” to run split-screen multiplayer on the Xbox Series S. Michael Douse also announced this on Twitter. “A fair amount of engineers are working to do what no other RPG of this scale has accomplished,” he said.
Xbox Series S causes Baldur’s Gate 3 to lag
Any game released on Xbox Series X must have the same features on Series S. This situation was controversial, and some in the industry criticized the Xbox Series S and therefore accused it of holding back game development. While Larian opposes this, it’s clear that Xbox Series S is the main reason players who want to play Baldur’s Gate 3 have to wait longer.
Baldur’s Gate 3 truly aims to exceed expectations. This is one of the main reasons why it creates a lot of excitement. Time will tell if Baldur’s Gate 3 can meet this excitement. However, we can clearly say that the chances are quite high.
