BAHRAIN F1 GP. F1 returns this weekend with the first Grand Prix of the 2022 season, the Bahrain GP. How to follow practice, qualifying and the race on Sunday? Here is the complete program.
[Mis à jour le 19 mars 2022 à 13h51] It’s time for the first F1 Grand Prix of the 2022 season. Formula 1 is making a comeback this weekend for the Bahrain GP on the Sakhir circuit which had already hosted the start of the 2021 season. Four months after the epic Abu Dhabi finale concluded by Max Verstappen’s first world championship crown, F1 is about to experience a new start with completely modified regulations and largely transformed single-seaters .
Who will benefit from this great upheaval: the favorites Mercedes, Red Bull, Ferrari who are announced to be back or outsiders like McLaren, Alpine or Aston Martin? The Ferraris were in evidence during free practice on Friday but Pierre Gasly on his Alpha Tauri and Max Verstappen panicked the lap times. Enough to make the qualifying session on Saturday and then the race on Sunday very open! F1 returns this weekend to the Sakhir circuit, a modern layout that combines three long straights, a more technical central part with slow corners and a few fast curves.
On the grid, we will find some new features including the presence of George Russell at Mercedes as a teammate of Lewis Hamilton after honing his skills at Williams. This Bahrain GP will also see the debut of the first Chinese driver in F1 history, Guanyu Zhou entered by Alfa Romeo alongside ex-Mercedes driver Valtteri Bottas. Also note the return of Kevin Magnussen to Haas in place of Nikita Mazepin and the “freelance” of Nico Hülkenberg at Aston Martin to replace Sebastian Vettel, positive for Covid-19. Here are all the times for the first GP of the Formula 1 season.
It is therefore the Bahrain Grand Prix which opens the ball for the Formula 1 season from March 18 to 20, 2022. Find the complete program of the GP with the timetables in French time.
