Slovakia will buy 152 combat vehicles and has during the past year done a number of tests of, among other things, CV90 which is manufactured in Örnsköldsvik. The results and recommendations from the test have now been published. Tommy Gustafsson-Rask, CEO of BAE Systems Hägglunds, describes himself how he reacted yesterday afternoon when the news reached him.
– I got goosebumps all over my body, he says.
Superior first and second
Now you have to remember that nothing is clear yet but it undeniably looks bright. In a 131-page report compiled by the Slovak Ministry of Defense, five combat vehicles were tested. In addition to two versions of combat vehicles 90, three combat vehicles from other manufacturers have also been assessed. The two from Hägglunds end up as superior first and second.
– This proves that we make the world’s best combat vehicle. Now a decision will be made in Parliament in June before we start negotiations, which will probably be completed by the autumn. But nothing is clear until the agreement is signed, Tommy Gustafsson-Rask points out.
