Badly injured male flown to hospital: Chatham-Kent police

A male found seriously injured near a Chatham shopping plaza early Wednesday was flown to a Windsor hospital in critical condition, Chatham-Kent police say.

The male was found with “obvious injuries” about 5:30 am near Thames-Lea Plaza, police said. He was taken to Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, then flown to Windsor Regional Hospital, “where he remains in critical condition,” a police release said.

Police had cordoned off a small stretch of road near the Dollarama store and applied a substance to what appeared to be a large pool of liquid.

Part of the plaza was closed, but has since reopened, police said.

Police thanked the public and affected businesses for their patience during the closure.

Woman hurt in clash, man charged

A Wallaceburg resident faces charges after a woman was injured in a clash with a man, Chatham-Kent police say.

Officers called to a disturbance on Montgomery Drive in Wallaceburg at 10:20 pm Tuesday learned a man attacked a woman with a steel cooking pan, knocked furniture onto her, spoke of causing her physical harm, then fled, police said.

The woman required medical attention for her injuries, police said.

A drone helped officers locate a suspect hiding in a backyard about an hour later, police said.

A Wallaceburg man, 45, is charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, assault and uttering threats, police said. He was held pending a bail hearing.

A man faces charges two brothers clashed Monday, Chatham-Kent police say.

Officers called to a disturbance on Madonna Crescent in Chatham about 4 pm learned a man was assaulted as siblings argued, police said.

Investigation revealed a man involved was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court, police said.

A Chatham Kent man, 35, faces three counts of uttering threats, two counts each of assault with a weapon and possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and failing to attend court for fingerprints, police said. He was held pending a bail hearing.

Windows smashed, two charged

Two people face mischief charges after windows were smashed in separate incidents, Chatham-Kent police say.

A man smashed a window at a gas station on Grand Avenue West in Chatham about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, police said.

A Chatham-Kent man, 22, was charged with mischief and held pending a bail hearing, police said.

Then about 4 am Wednesday, a woman broke a window at a Harvey Street residence, police said.

A Chatham woman, 28, was charged with mischief, police said. She was released with conditions and a July 8 short date.
