Forecasters have identified some bad news for the weekend’s weather, which could spoil time spent outdoors.
This weekend of May 11 promises to be different from the previous ones. After the bad weather of recent weekends which led to flooding in the region, the sun will make a comeback across the country. The Weather Channel announces blue skies and temperatures “worthy of mid-June” for Saturday and Sunday, thanks to the Azores anticyclone which is rising and reaching the entire country. Be careful though, the weather forecast for the weekend does not exclude the presence of an umbrella in the beach bag…
From Wednesday and Thursday, the sun will gradually impose itself on the territory. On Saturday, only Biarritz and Lyon should have slightly cloudy weather. Over the rest of the country, the sky will be clear, and blue should dominate over gray. The Weather Channel forecasts summer temperatures, generally between 22 and 28 degrees across the country. In the east, the few clouds present and a light wind “should limit the rise in temperatures a little”. The Weather Channel also announces averages between 20 and 21°C on the Channel coast and in Lille. It is in Biarritz and Bordeaux that it should be the hottest, around 27°C. In the rest of the country, La Chaîne Météo forecasts between 22 (in Nice) and 26°C (in La Rochelle). Enough to encourage the French to put their coats in the closet.
On Sunday, however, the weather gets complicated for the last day of this long weekend. We will have to pay more attention to what the sky says. The morning should be just as hot as the day before, with once again minimums for Aurillac and Charleville-Mézières around 12°C. Everywhere else, it will be between 14 and 15°C. But from the early hours of the day, the start of a shower could be felt on the Atlantic coast. For good reason, a weakening of the anticyclone which should allow some instability to pass over the western regions.
It is in the afternoon that the bad news should be confirmed with showers over a large part of the northern half of the country and a strong risk of thunderstorms from east to west. Only Corsica and the Mediterranean basin should be spared from the gray weather, but there too The Weather Channel recorded drops in temperatures compared to Saturday. It is in Brest and Cherbourg that it will be the coolest, between 17 and 18°C, and in Perpignan that the mercury will be the highest with more than 26°C.
In the evening, the Azores high pressure will have largely retreated towards the Mediterranean to give way to storms, particularly on the English Channel and the Atlantic coast but also near the German border. So another mixed end to the weekend awaits the French.
