Bad weather A rare phenomenon will surprise these departments this

After two weeks of polar temperatures in France, a new unexpected phenomenon appeared this week.

The Irene depression, which hit France over the last two weeks bringing very low temperatures, frost and snow, is now a thing of the past. These last few days have in fact been marked by significant snowy episodes in the plains, particularly in the north of France. Cold peaks were also reached, with -14.7°C in Arras on Friday January 19. Meteo France also recorded -11°C in Amiens and Beauvais and -10°C in Pontoise last Friday.

A significant phenomenon nevertheless took place at the end of the week and in particular on Friday January 19. Temperatures were particularly contrasting between the northern and southern half of France. The north experienced bitter cold until the end of the depression with the negative peaks stated above, but this was not the case in the south. On the contrary, La Chaîne Météo recorded even 20.5°C in Tournay in the Hautes-Pyrénées on Thursday January 18 while it was -1°C in Reims in the Marne. It was also between 16°C and 17°C in Corsica on Friday while the peak of -14°C was reached in Arras the same day.

This week’s weather forecast announces the arrival of a mild spell across the entire territory, a radical change with the often negative temperatures of the last two weeks. The Weather Channel explains that this week, “France is returning to the disrupted Atlantic regime”. The site announces a week divided into two parts. And a strange phenomenon: a mild spell of considerable magnitude, which takes France from temperatures well below seasonal norms to temperatures that we usually experience in April. And that in just a few days.

This Tuesday, the weather is marked by a strong gale accompanied by sometimes heavy rain. The south of the country should not be affected by this precipitation where temperatures will be mild with 12°C in Montpellier and Nice and 13°C in Marseille. The site specifies that the national thermal indicator will be at its highest this Tuesday with 11.4°C on average in the territory.

It is from Wednesday that The Weather Channel forecasts a change in trend. She specifies that between “Wednesday and Thursday, an anticyclone rising from the Maghreb gradually imposes itself on most of the country, bringing increasingly calm and very mild weather.” For Wednesday, the site announces fairly cloudy skies despite high pressure with rain in the eastern massifs, from the Vosges to the Alps.

The south of the territory should experience almost spring-like weather with temperatures reaching up to 23°C in the Var as well as in Toulon and Hyères. Same thing in the southwest where temperatures will be very mild with 21°C predicted in Perpignan and 20°C in Biarritz, temperatures of the end of April, therefore, near the Mediterranean. In the northern half, temperatures will be between 11°C as in Lille and 14°C as in Paris, Rennes and Dijon.

A trend which should continue for this Thursday, January 25 with a few drops of rain north of the Loire and rays of sunshine “from the Pyrenees to the Mediterranean regions”. Temperatures could be slightly lower this Thursday but will remain very mild with 12°C in Paris, 16°C in Bordeaux, 20°C in Perpignan and 15°C in Ajaccio. The week should end with some rain in the north of the country this Friday, January 25. While the gray which could settle in in the morning in the south should dissipate quickly during the day thanks to the sun which will continue to shine.
