HIFK, which runs the men’s hockey league, informed about the situation of the experienced defender on Friday.
Defender of Helsinki IFK Petteri Lindbohmin the season on the ice hockey league fields is over due to a hip injury, the Helsinki club said in his announcement. According to HIFK, Lindbohm’s injury requires surgery and the defender is expected to recover to full playing condition for next season.
In his second HIFK season, Lindbohm played 19 league matches with 0+4 power points. Lindbohm logged a good 18 minutes of playing time per match.
Lindbohm, 31, won the 2019 world championship and the 2022 Olympic gold in the Finnish national team. Lindbohm, who started his league career with the Jokers, has played 49 NHL games in his career and previously represented Swiss Lausanne and Swedish Frölunda.
