Bad news came to former US President Donald Trump from the US Federal Court of Appeals. The District of Columbia Court of Appeals unanimously ruled that Trump does not have immunity and could be sued on charges of conspiracy to overturn the 2020 election.
The court stated that former President Trump had become citizen Trump for the purpose of the case in question and said, “Any immunity that may have protected him while he was serving as President no longer protects him from this prosecution.”
Trump is expected to appeal the decision of the District of Columbia Court of Appeals and take it to the US Supreme Court.
TRUMP CLAIMED THAT HE HAD IMMUNITY!
Trump, who is being tried in the USA on many charges, especially “secret documents”, had a 45-page indictment prepared against him by Special Prosecutor Jack Smith in August last year. The indictment focused on Trump’s role in the Congress raid on January 6, 2021 and his intervention in the results of the 2020 US presidential elections.
In the indictment, Trump was accused of “conspiring to mislead the United States”, “conspiring to obstruct an official process”, “attempting to obstruct an official process” and “conspiring to prevent voters from exercising their constitutional rights”.
Trump had requested that the charges be dropped because he had immunity because they were leveled against him while he was in office.
