Bacteria discovered in hospital kitchen

There are currently no known cases of listeria infection in patients at the hospital, and according to the region, eating the food should not pose any danger to those hospitalized.

“We are grateful that it was discovered in time so that we can take measures before anyone is affected. More sampling will now be carried out to ensure that it is not found in more places,” says Mikael Persson, operations manager for internal service in Region Västerbotten, in a press release .

Listeria is a commonly occurring bacterium that is found in, among other things, water and soil and also in small amounts in food. It is harmless to most people, but can make people with weakened immune systems, including pregnant women and the elderly, seriously ill.
