A woman in Region Kronoberg who was treated for breast cancer sought care for back pain. Two different doctors did not attribute the pain to cancer.

It wasn’t until several months after the woman sought help that daughter tumors were discovered in the spine. Region Kronoberg has now made a lex Maria report about the incident to the Inspectorate for Care and Care, writes Smålands-Posten.

The woman had both undergone surgery and received radiotherapy for breast cancer. At a visit to the breast clinic, she mentioned that she had persistent back pain, but this was not investigated further.

She later contacted the reception again with her problems. A specialist doctor examined her, but her complaints were judged to have no connection with the cancer.

After several months, the daughter tumors were diagnosed, for which the woman is now receiving treatment.

“The delay has caused delayed treatment of the tumor disease and unnecessary suffering for the patient,” writes Region Kronoberg in a press release.
