A premature baby in Region Västerbotten died of organ failure, which was probably caused by sepsis.

The child was born in the 25th week of pregnancy. The condition was initially stable but deteriorated rapidly, writes Region Västerbotten in a press release.

If the child had received preventive or earlier treatment with antibiotics, the outcome could have been different, according to the region, which reported the case according to lex Maria.
