The first premature babies from Gaza have arrived in Egypt, according to Egyptian media reports. The 29 children have been brought there after being evacuated from al-Shifa hospital in Gaza City on Sunday.
31 children were evacuated from al-Shifa hospital. It is not known why only 29 are said to have arrived in Egypt. The Palestinian Red Crescent stated during the morning on X that 28 children were on their way to the border crossing.
Israel claims that Hamas has a command center in or under the hospital. This week, Israeli soldiers entered the hospital and began searching the buildings. The World Health Organization WHO has described the hospital as “a death zone”.
