Alderman Veldhuizen now envisions a cultural center that will also house social initiatives. The basis should be formed by theater De Speeldoos, the local library and other cultural organizations in the municipality. “This cultural center will be an accessible meeting place where culture, education and coexistence go hand in hand, for both young and old,” states a council proposal from the mayor and aldermen. And: “It strengthens the identity of Baarn and promotes quality of life and solidarity, for example by combating loneliness.”
