BAARN – The municipality of Baarn will temporarily receive Ukrainian refugees in the buildings of Meander Medical Center and residential care center Santvoorde. This concerns long-term care for about 40 refugees at Meander MC and about 19 at Santvoorde.

The municipality wants to have the reception locations ready for reception as soon as possible. It is now being mapped out which activities and procedures are involved. In the meantime, the municipality is investigating whether other locations in Baarn may be suitable for reception.

‘Good small-scale reception’

Both reception locations can be prepared in the short term for the placement of Ukrainian refugees. It is not yet clear from when refugees will actually be able to go, because this depends on the allocation from the security region. Local residents will quickly receive more information about the accommodation of the Ukrainian refugees.

Mayor Röell and alderman Van Roshum emphasize the importance of solidarity with the Ukrainians who have fled the war in their country. “The aim is to offer the Ukrainian refugees in Baarn the best possible, small-scale reception for a longer period of time,” said Alderman Van Roshum. “It is important that the refugees here receive the help, care and peace they need.”
