Board chairman Roel Burgman previously argued in an open letter that “politics are now really making decisions”. According to the theater board, the foundation of De Speeldoos is “iron strong” and “the programming is rock solid, even by national standards”. In the letter they wrote the following: “Postponement perpetuates uncertainty and that has a negative effect that will reinforce itself if artists, users and employees lose their faith in the future. Postponing decisions even longer is not responsible.”
