In a meeting behind closed doors, the city council voted to extend Röell’s mayoralty. “There is a lot of appreciation from society for you and for the way in which you fulfill your role,” said ChristenUnie councilor Roy Bruins afterwards, as chairman of the confidential committee that prepared the recommendation. “In your roles as mayor you are involved, connecting, approachable, genuinely interested and amiable. Residents experience you as a real mayor.”
