Axios: Israel’s updated proposal for Gaza ceasefire | News in brief

Gaza ceasefire talks are expected to resume on Sunday.

On Saturday, Israel has sent its updated proposal to the United States for the release of the hostages in Gaza and for a ceasefire agreement, according to the US media Axios.

The media bases its information on an Israeli official and two other sources familiar with the matter.

Gaza ceasefire talks are set to resume on Sunday in Rome, where the head of the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) of William Burns is expected to meet with high officials from Israel, Qatar and Egypt.

Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu however, it is said to have recently tightened its demands in order to agree on a ceasefire.

– At the moment, he does not agree to be flexible, and therefore we may be on the way to a crisis and not an agreement in the negotiations, an Israeli official commented earlier to Axios.
