Axios: CIA Director Suggests 28-Day Gaza Ceasefire | News in brief

Director of the CIA, the US Central Intelligence Agency Bill Burns has proposed a 28-day ceasefire for the Gaza Strip. Tells about it news site Axios citing three Israeli official sources.

Axios says Burns discussed the ceasefire proposal during a meeting with Israeli and Qatari intelligence officials in the Qatari capital of Doha on Sunday.

In addition, Hamas is to release about eight hostages and Israel is to release several dozen Palestinian prisoners, the proposal says, according to the sources.

Along with the US and Israeli intelligence services, the countries’ defense ministers have also discussed the situation in the Middle East.

The US Department of Defense Pentagon says that the Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin has discussed on the phone the Israeli Defense Minister by Yoav Gallant with “possibilities for reducing regional tensions”.
