The study found out why Finns are not fired up by decision-making
Sitra’s research revealed a big gap in the views of citizens and decision-makers. Citizens would like to participate in decision-making more, but feel that politics is distant. At the same time, only one in five decision-makers believe that citizens are capable enough to participate in complex discussions about political decisions. Sitra’s project manager Hannu-Pekka Ikäheimo considers that we have reason to be concerned about the state of democracy in Finland.
Iceland is happy about Finland’s NATO membership
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iceland Þórdís Kolbrún R. Gylfadóttir is excited about the membership of Finland and Sweden in the military alliance NATO. The countries have a common base of values, and the foreign minister believes that membership will strengthen the Nordic countries’ relations. Above all, it increases regional and entire NATO security.
Humpback salmon will flock to Tenojoki again next summer
An avalanche of humpback salmon is expected again next summer. In Norway, alien species are combated with a new technology that separates humpback salmon from Atlantic salmon with the help of a camera, a computer algorithm and a mechanical device. We want to try the same technique in Finland at Tenojoki as well.
Rains are coming from the west
Low pressure is approaching from the west, and the weather will become cloudy from there. In the west and north, there will be individual rain showers during the day, and in the evening more uniform rains will spread to Lapland. During the night, the rains will spread more widely to the west and north.
