Awak Kuier started his season strongly in the Italian Supercup.
Finnish basketball player Awak Kuier is ready for the new season and proved his autumn spirit in the Italian Supercup on Friday evening. He scored 24 points and led Venezia to an 88–81 victory over Schio.
There was plenty of tension in the Supercup, because Venezia won the Italian championship last season and defeated Schio in the finals, who won the Italian cup.
Kuier was the scorer on the floor and also grabbed six rebounds. According to the Finnish Basketball Association’s press release, the match was only decided in the last quarter, and the point difference did not increase to double digits at any point in the second half.
Kuier guaranteed Venezia the first trophy of the season on Friday night, but the Finn already received a personal honor earlier in September. He was selected as the most valuable foreign player of the 2023–24 season of the Italian premier league.
