Awak Kuier, 23, also started his season strongly in Italy’s top division, Serie A1, on Saturday.
Chosen as the best foreign player in the Italian main league Serie A1 Awak Kuier started the new league season with a good look, when champion Venezia crushed Scrivia 80–47.
The Suomalaistahtih collected 18 points, the most impressive point pot on the field, with ten shots (FG 7/10). In addition, nine rebounds were grabbed by jumpers – the most in the match.
Exactly one week ago, Kuier played a big role when he led his club Venezia to an 88–81 victory over Schio in the Italian Super Cup. At that time, he bagged 24 points, being Mittelö’s best point scorer even then.
Kuier was recognized as the most valuable player of the finals last May in the midst of Reyer Venezia’s golden celebrations. In the last league season, his per-game averages in Italy were 14 points, 7.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.4 blocks.
