Avicii’s items are being auctioned off – bidding starts today

Starting today, the public can bid on Tim “Avicii” Bergling’s personal items.
And there are some things that are more desirable than others.
– Right now it’s his acoustic guitar, a Martin that is up to 115,000, says Tom Österman, object expert at Stockholm’s auction house.

Now the auction opens where Tim “Avicii” Bergling’s old belongings are sold. The Swedish star artist died tragically in 2018 – when he took his own life at the age of 28.

Among the roughly 260 objects are things like the artist’s DJ equipment, instruments, photographs, shoes, sweaters and caps. And the interest has already proven to be great. Within 20 hours there were bids for all the items, says Tom Österman.

There has been the greatest interest in one of the instruments.

– Right now it’s his acoustic guitar, a Martin that is up to 115,000. It has gone from asking for 8-10,000 kroner up to 115,000, so there is a lot of interest there.

“Trying to do it with dignity”

The auction takes place on behalf of the family. The money goes to the Tim Bergling Foundation, the foundation that the artist’s parents started after his death.

– We want to get as much money as possible into the foundation. Without trying to make a joke out of it, we rather try with as much dignity as possible and show the objects in a good way, says Tom Österman.

Fanet Sophie is in place

Sophie Martayan has been listening to Avicii’s music since her youth. Today she is at the place where the items are displayed in Stockholm, to inspect the items and hopefully be able to bid on something.

– Above all, it is the instruments that I look at a bit, because it would be a treasure to sit on and just know that here is someone who has expressed himself with the help of these and could make a difference for so many other people out there.

The auction will be held on Tuesday, October 1, at 3:00 p.m.
