Avicii song gets certified diamond in the US

It is the Recording industry association of America (RIAA) that is behind the certification, and “Wake me up” thus becomes the highest certified song in dance/electronic music in the RIAA’s history. In total, only 110 songs have achieved Diamond status since the level was introduced in 1999.

Released on June 17, 2013 and celebrating its tenth anniversary on Saturday, “Wake Me Up” is one of Avicii’s most successful singles of all time. The combination of house music and traditional bluegrass elements saw the song chart high on the Billboard Hot 100 and topped charts in over 60 countries.

With his unique way of combining different genres, Tim “Avicii” Bergling is considered one of the most influential pop and house producers of all time. Aloe Blacc, who sings on “Wake me up,” said in a statement:

“Tim’s energy and effort in producing both my vocals and the music shows the passion he had for the creation.”
