Avengers star had to be persuaded to return to Endgame by his own son

Avengers star had to be persuaded to return to Endgame

The older a film gets, the more backstories come to the public. The participants talk about their experiences on the set, give insight into the production and remember special events. However, in the case of Avengers 4: Endgame and Frank Grillo, almost none of that would have been possible.

The actor who made the character Brock Rumlow a.k.a Crossbones has brought to life several times in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, originally did not want to be part of the grand finale of the Infinity Saga. Instead, it took his son’s powers of persuasion to join the Avengers sequel.

Frank Grillo was offended and didn’t want to return as Crossbones in Avengers 4: Endgame

But why didn’t Grillo want to be part of the fight against Thanos? Comic Book overheard an interview in which the actor explained his stance.

There should have been a lot more of Crossbones. I was the only character back then that I thought would be in more [Filmen] was supposed to happen, and those other idiotic characters were still there. I was an asshole, a little stubborn.

Frank Grillo as Crossbones in the MCU

When Grillo’s son found out about it, he immediately protested.

[Mein Sohn] said: ‘This will be the biggest movie in the world!’ And he was right. I had a nice time. They were celebrating the tenth anniversary, Stan Lee was there, and I stood up and said, ‘I’m such an asshole!’

After Avengers 4: Endgame, Grillo returned another MCU project back, but no longer in front of the camera. In the animated series What If…? he lent his voice again to Crossbones for three episodes.
