It is a surprise that will please fans of the Marvel cinematographic universe. The film production studio and superhero series announced this Wednesday, March 26, the full casting of the film Avengers Doomsdayscheduled for April 2026. As fans know, these feature films bring together a whole panoply of characters from the Marvel stable. And if some names do not surprise, like that of Robert Downey Jr who had already been confirmed in the role of Doctor Fatalis (and not in Iron Man), others are much less unexpected and come to rekindle interest in the project.
Let’s start with the expected names first. You could suspect it from the start of the project, but Anthony Mackie will take over Captain America’s shield, Chris Hemsworth stacks in Thor, when Sebastian Stan is Bucky Barnes again. Already seen in the MCU, Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova), Letitia Wright (Shuri/Black Panther), Wyatt Russell (John Walker/Us Agent), David Harbour (Red Guardian), Simu Liu (Shang-Chi) or even more secondary characters like Danny Ramirer (Joaquin Torres/Falcon).

First, Marvel confirmed the presence of the fantastic four that we will discover in First Stepwhich comes out in theaters on July 23, 2025: Vanessa Kirby, Pedro Pascal, Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Joseph Quinn will be in the casting. More exciting, however, is that the studio confirmed the return of an adored franchise: the X-Men films of the 2000s.
Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart will take over the roles of Magneto and Professor X, alongside Alan Cumming (Diablo), Kelsey Grammer (Le Fauve), James Marsden (Cyclops) and Rebecca Romijn (mystic). Even more surprising, the presence of Tom Hiddleston (Loki), who was supposed to have farewell to the character with the series dedicated to him.
Tenoch Huerta (Namor de Wakanda Forever), Lewis Pullman (Robert Reynolds/Sentry in Thunderbolts), Hannah John-Kamen (Ava Starr / Le Fantôme in Thunderbolts), Winston Duke (M’Baku in Black Panther) and Channing Tatum (Gambit in Deadpool & Wolverine) will also be part of the distribution.
We can also be surprised by the absence of other expected names, such as Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange) or Tom Holland (Spider-Man), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), Brie Larson (Captain Marvel) or other X-Men-Men like Halle Berry (Tornado), Hugh Jackman (Wolverine, and yes the multiverse can do it) or Anna Paquin (Malicia). Unless their return is announced on another occasion or is a surprise that we discover in the film … Answer in a year!
