It was always clear that previous heroes Jake (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldana) would return in Avatar 2: The Way of Water. However, when another appearance by Fiesling Quaritch (Stephen Lang) was also revealed, many sci-fi fans were confused. After all, the villain died in the finale of the debut. Now Lang clarifies.

So Quaritch’s essence is transferred into an “empty” avatar, according to the interview, the result is called “recombinant“. The external proximity to the people of his enemies does not make the bully any less unscrupulous. “He’s as ruthless as ever“, explains Lang. “But he also knows that he can adapt his fighting style to them [neue] type of war must adapt.”
