Around ten people are missing after an avalanche in the popular Austrian ski resort of Lech-Zürs in the Alps.
A rescue force of over 100 people has been deployed. Helicopters and avalanche dogs are also participating in the search. An injured person has been found. “We are doing everything to save the winter sports,” says a statement from the municipality.
The avalanche was triggered at 3 pm on the Trittkopf mountain. Parts of the avalanche reached the ski slope in the area, according to the police.
The search is made more difficult by the onset of darkness.
