There is a high risk of avalanches in several places in the mountains.

There is a significant risk of avalanches in the southern Lapland mountains, western Vindelfjällen and Abisko/Riksgränsfjällen. Strong winds and a blizzard have caused drift problems on east-facing slopes.
“Unfortunately, the heavy drift snow has settled on an already weak snow cover, which can result in unusually large avalanches,” writes lavinprognoser.se, which is run by the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency.

As for western Vindelfjällen, the development of the avalanche danger is expected to increase from significant to the more serious “large” on Wednesday. This means very dangerous conditions with a high probability of spontaneous human-triggered avalanches.
Significant avalanche danger is the third level on a five-point scale. The warnings are currently in effect until 6pm on Tuesday.
There is a moderate risk of avalanches in the southern Jämtlandsfjällen and in the western Härjedalsfjällen, which is the second lowest level. The avalanche risk in Kebnekaisefjällen has not been assessed.
