(Tiper Stock Exchange) – It is active on an experimental basis on the Ligurian network the Road Zipper Systemsystem designed by Highways for Italy for minimize the impact of the works on circulationreducing the duration of construction sites and ensuring a significant increase in safety for both personnel working on construction sites and for users in transit.

The Road Zipper technology makes it possible to move a physical barrier of separation placed between two opposing traffic flows by means of a specific machine. The system operates by moving a continuous wall barrierformed by modular elements similar to the new jerseys that delimit the construction site which, through the use of a specially designed machine, makes them pass through a system of conveyor belts capable of adapting to the curvature of the road. THE test took place in the modernization yards of the A26 motorwaya complex section in terms of size and type of processing, and therefore an ideal test bench for the effectiveness of the machinery.

Patented in the USA, the Road Zipper is an advanced technology system which allows for minimize inconveniencewith dynamic management of the available lanes favoring the prevailing traffic flow through the opening or closing of an additional lane in a very short time and in total safety also according to the changing traffic conditions.

Thanks to the use of this technology it will therefore be possible to operate the real-time lane reshaping, thus reconciling the continuity of work with the needs of the road system. This is a solution adopted for the first time by ASPI on its network with the aim, after this first test period, of extending this technology to the most impactful construction sites.

“Once again, technological innovation proves to be the main enabler of an increasingly sustainable approach to mobility. Since the start of our modernization plan, we have been committed to identifying solutions that could safeguard the usability of the network even in the presence of construction sites “, he has declared Roberto Tomasi, Chief Executive Officer of Autostrade per l’Italia, speaking of a “turning point both for the operations of the teams and for traffic needs. Especially in Liguria, which is confirmed for us as a territory to give priority to”.
