The world-renowned author Salman Rushdie has been attacked in the United States. The attack took place on stage in connection with a lecture in Chautauqua in the state of New York, reports the AP news agency.
It is unclear how seriously injured he is.
Rushdie became world famous when his novel “The Satanic Verses” came out in the autumn of 1988. It partly touched on the life of the Prophet Muhammad, which caused strong reactions and Rushdie has lived under death threats.
