Inger Alfvén was born in Stockholm in 1940 and graduated in sociology in 1964. Recurring themes in her writing are existential and moral conflicts, such as gender roles, love and loneliness.

“Daughter till a daughter” from 1977 is usually considered her breakthrough novel. Other famous novels are “Städpatrullen” (1976) “s/y Glädjen” (1979) which was filmed in 1989, “A mother has four daughters” (1994) and “Mandelkärnan” (2006).

In 2002, Alfvén also debuted as a playwright with the play “The Root of the Rainbow”.

In parallel with the authorship, she has also worked as a supervisor in Literary Design at the University of Gothenburg.

Inger Alfvén was 82 years old and died quietly during the night towards Tuesday.
