Lodgeborn and raised in London, made his debut in 1975 with “Changing places” and was awarded the Whitbread award in 1980 for “How far can you go?”. He was nominated for the Booker Prize twice and in 1989 was also chairman of the Booker Prize jury.
Several of Lodge’s books were also filmed for television. In the BBC’s 1989 dramatization of “Nice Work,” the word “clitoris” was uttered for the first time on prime-time British television, The Times wrote in 2018.
