Many of the actors who have starred in the series over the decades are expected to return for the hour-long finale on Thursday.

The Australian soap opera Neighbors will end after 37 years, when its last episode will air in its home country on Thursday.

Over the decades, the series has followed the twists and turns in the lives of the residents of Ramsey Street in a fictional Melbourne suburb. Its first episode was shown in Australia on 18 March 1985.

The popularity of the series took off in 1986, when young actors were brought in for plot twists Kylie Minogue and by Jason Donovan with characters.

The series became a cultural phenomenon, especially in English-speaking countries. It has been shown in more than 60 countries.

On their social media accounts, former and current stars have hinted that previously written-out characters will return to Ramsey Street in the series-ending special hour-long episode. Minogue, Donovan and Pierce are also seen in the promotional video for the final episode.
