Gaël Monfils easily qualified this Friday for the round of 16 of the Australian Open by beating the Chilean Cristian Garin in three sets. This Sunday, he also overcame the Serbian Kecmanovic. The “Monf” will play its quarter-final against the Italian Matteo Berrettini next week. Among the other results, we will especially note the elimination of the defending champion, Naomi Osaka, beaten by the American Anisimova.
This weekend, following and at the end of the 3rd round of the Australian Open with Alizée Cornet who tried to get rid of Tamara Zidanšek, Benoit Paire faced the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas. Sunday, the start of the round of 16 again allowed Gaël Monfils to earn a place in the quarter-finals against Kecmanovic while Zverev was treated to a big test against the Canadian Shapovalov.
