In 16-year-old Aurora’s makeup live on Tiktok, she talked briefly about her ex who dumped her.

Hours later, she was kidnapped from her school, beaten and forced to apologize to her ex-boyfriend in a new Tiktok live.

– I thought they were going to kill me, she tells Aftonbladet.

In the morning of that day, she posted a makeup clip on Tiktok.

The contrast with the image of her swollen face and red-crying eyes half a day later could not be greater.

In the hours in between, she had been abducted and beaten – because of something she said in the makeup clip.

– Look, here on my neck you can see that I’m completely blue and swollen, and here on the other side I have red marks, she says and points to various pictures that she quickly scrolls through.

Aurora, who lives in a suburb of Stockholm, is today 18 years old.

The photographs are from the preliminary investigation report. She still has that saved in her phone.

Aurora says she finds it painful to see her bruised legs and the tear marks on her neck.

– I loved this guy and then he did this to me. I still can’t understand it.

“My first love”

Aurora was 16 years old when she met 20-year-old Mehmet through a dating app. She knew who he was from before, they had met through family when she was little.

– So I fell in love immediately. He was great but we didn’t get to see each other for more than a few months before he ended it.

She thought the reason was strange: Aurora was not fully Turkish and did not wear a veil.

– You don’t understand how much I cried. I was completely heartbroken. I had such a hard time letting him go, he was my first love.

Like most teenagers, Aurora spends a lot of time on Tiktok. In the past, she used to record make-up-lives before school.

– And that’s what I did on the day it happened, December 2, 2022. I had many people watching and asking questions in my life. One asked if I had a boyfriend.

Aurora says she told me briefly about Mehmet and that she just got dumped.

– But I didn’t say anything stupid about him and I didn’t say his name either.

When Aurora was at school that day, Mehmet suddenly called. He wanted to meet and talk.

– I was absolutely sure that we would solve everything and be together again. So I got really nervous and giggly. My girlfriends cheered me on and kind of said “now we’re breathing”.

Abused by unknown girl

In the school parking lot, Mehmet was waiting in his car. A nervous and jittery Aurora jumped in. Could it be the two of them again?

But the atmosphere in the car was subdued. Mehmet did not say where they were going, but drove for a while before stopping the car at a wooded area.

They had gotten out of the car and were about to share a cigarette, when another girl suddenly appeared and walked towards them.

– Is that your new girlfriend or not? I remember asking him.

Then everything went very quickly. The girl shouted that Aurora had spoken badly about Mehmet on Tiktok, grabbed Aurora’s neck and pulled her into the forest.

– She punched me several times in the face, pulled my hair, kicked and spat in my face.

– You get what you give, she heard Mehmet say and laugh.

When Aurora fell to the ground, the girl sat over her, pressed her knee on her neck and hit her with all her might.

– I couldn’t breathe and thought I was going to die.

The girl didn’t let go until Mehmet said “that’s enough”.

Aurora remembers looking at him and asking how he could do this to her.

– But he just sneered at me. I didn’t understand anything, I hadn’t said anything bad about him. I said it several times but they said I was lying.

“You’re not coming home tonight”

The girl and Mehmet at one point discussed taking her to a water tower, cutting her hair and stabbing her.

– You will not come home tonight, the girl assured her.

Aurora had seen the shiny scissors in the girl’s pocket and was absolutely sure she was going to be murdered.

– But first we’re going to record a Tiktok live where you have to apologize to Mehmet, said the girl and started the live.

Mehmet said what she would say in her lifetime and Aurora dared nothing but obey.

Then an elderly couple came by and wondered what they were doing. The beating was stopped and Aurora was taken back to the car.

Mehmet drove while the girl, still with a firm grip around Aurora’s neck, sat with her in the back.

Not knowing where they were going, Aurora watched as the car began to approach her school. Realizing that Mehmet had no intention of staying, Aurora saw her chance to escape.

She managed to tear herself free from the girl’s grip, opened the car door and threw herself into the speed.

– I ran as fast as I could to school and called my father, who then called the police.

Sentenced to prison

Both Mehmet and the girl have been sentenced in the district court to one year in prison for what they exposed Aurora to.

Aurora tells us that the time after has been very difficult. She has had difficulty sleeping and has not dared to go out alone. To this day, she has nightmares and relives that day in December two years ago.

Mehmet was detained for four months, but was then released pending the Court of Appeal verdict.

– My feelings didn’t disappear for him just because he did what he did. It took time and it feels so double.

But today she is over Mehmet. Aurora says she actually hopes he reads this article and is ashamed.

– Because no one who does this to a woman should be allowed to go free. They should be locked up.

Aurora: Dare to report

Going out and telling about the incident was not a matter of course.

– But there are so many girls who have experienced something similar. I want them to be strong and dare to report. The police will do their best and it will work out in the end.

After the incident, Aurora dropped out of high school and now works extra at a restaurant. Soon she will begin trauma treatment to process everything.

But she sees the future brightly. She knows exactly what she wants to be after she completed her grades at komvux.

– I’m going to become a detective, she says and smiles.

Aurora and Mehmet are actually called something else.
