The US-led Aukus cooperation aims to respond to the growth of China’s military influence in the Indo-Pacific region.

The countries of the Aukus defense group announced on Wednesday that they are holding talks with Canada, Japan and New Zealand about possible cooperation in the field of defense technology.

The goal of the Aukus agreement signed by the United States, Britain and Australia in 2021 is to deliver nuclear-powered submarines to Australia in the next decade.

According to the Aukus countries, in the future the new partners could form the “second pillar” of the agreement, which does not include nuclear-powered submarines.
