Toyota ranks first in Auto-Plus magazine’s ranking of the most stolen cars of 2022 with its SUV, the RAV-4. The latter obtains a score of 240 thefts for 10,000 cars insured (i.e. 2.40% risk of theft), almost a record since the auto magazine produced this top 50. The magazine explains this by the emergence of a network offering the sale on the net of a decoy in the form of a bluetooth speaker and including an electronic hacking kit taking advantage of the flaws in the models of the Japanese brand.
